Clinics & Medical Camps
In addition to supporting existing Government of Kenya health facilities, OGRA Foundation also establishes clinics where there are none. OGRA sources for funds for the construction of these clinics which are then run by the local communities with support from OGRA Foundation’s technical team. The services offered in the facilities include:
- - Maternal and Child Health: Including Immunization, Growth monitoring, Antenatal Care, Delivery and Postnatal care.
- - General outpatient care: Targeting common ailments such as Malaria.
- - HIV and Tuberculosis care including provision of Antiretrovirals and TB drugs.
- - In-patient care.
- - Health Education.
- - Laboratory services.
All the clinics are modeled in a way that the communities access quality healthcare at very affordable costs with some services such as immunization and HIV/TB care given for free. The communities just contribute a small amount in the spirit of cost sharing. We also enroll vulnerable community members into the government health insurance scheme called National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) which ensures that the patients will then access quality healthcare without any out-of-pocket payment.
The health facilities currently run by OGRA Foundation in collaboration with local communities include OGRA Medical Centre, St Jonnes Ringroad Health Centre and Osani Health Cantre – all of which are situated in underserved areas.
