International School of Medicine and Applied Technology
ISMAT is a comprehensive community-response tertiary college committed to meeting the training needs of Kenya's youth. The college provides accessible, high quality, professional education to the deserving young, with continued emphasis on the under privileged and vulnerable. Within the context of community service, the college has developed innovative student-motivating programs that enable students from underprivileged backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. The college is committed to academic excellence and community partnerships through curriculum, teaching, scholarship and services designed to support lifelong community service.
To date the college has admitted 72 students. Major courses offered are Community Health and Development, Social Work and Development and medical courses geared to improving health at the community level. The following courses ICT, Community Health and Development, Environmental Health Sciences, and Nutrition and Dietetics are done in collaboration with Moi University. Social Work and Community development are examined by the Kenya National Examination.
Our Bio-technology students are taken on industrial attachments in institutions like Chiromo Campus, Nairobi and Kenya Bureau of Standards, while our interrelated Community Health, Community Development and Social Work students are attached to CBOs and health centres where they return very favourable reports on their work.
